Happy Feature & Follow Friday! Looking At Favorite Book Covers

Happy Friday everyone!  It's going to be an extremely busy weekend, but I have next weekend off!  Yippee!  I haven't a day off in weeks.  Yes, that's right, weeks.  I think my last day off was in the middle of February.

Anyway, it's time for a blog hop!

Here are the rules: 1) write a post answering the weekly post prompt, 2) enter your post link into the linky thing on one of the host's pages, and 3) follow the featured blog, follow the hosts, and follow anyone else you'd like!  Say hi, read their answers, and vote for your favorite answer in a couple of days.  Have fun!

This Week's Prompt:
Top Ten Favorite Book Covers

Easy enough!  Here are mine, in no particular order:

Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore (Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore, #1)Words of Radiance (The Stormlight Archive, #2)Ship of Destiny (Liveship Traders, #3)Mad Ship (Liveship Traders, #2)Dreamer's Pool (Blackthorn & Grim, #1)
Garden Spells (Waverley Family, #1)Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (Harry Potter, #2)Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter, #1)Dealing with Dragons (Enchanted Forest Chronicles, #1)The Mermaid's Madness (Princess, #2)

Seeing all these covers side by side has made me realize something about myself: I really like covers with detailed pictures that show a piece of the story.  I especially seem to like covers that show what some of the characters look like.

I'm not too surprised that I like having a picture of the character on the cover: I always like to look at fan art and book art so I can have an idea what the protagonists look like.  I am surprised that I like art on my covers this much.  Looking back, I now remember that it was the covers of the first 3 Harry Potter books that made me want to read the series in the first place (thank you, Mary GrandPre!)

The only cover that I loved that doesn't have any art on it is Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore.  The reason why I love that cover is because it glows in the dark, and that, my friend, is just plain awesome. :)

What's your criteria for a good book cover?
Enjoy the weekend!

  6. Great choices! You have me at glow in the dark book cover *stakes it out*. I do also love the Harry Potter covers because while personally I don't always appreciate scene artwork straight off (compared to when reading/looking back) they present the story so well :)
